COLLEGE RECRUITING VIDEO - UNDER CONSTRUCTION

SPORTS RECRUITING VIDEO

Every year, millions of young adults prepare to go off to college. Among these many, many thousands apply for athletic scholarships. Prior to this, countless parents already collectively spent millions of dollars over the years so their child could be on a club or traveling team, go to training camps, receive specialized private coaching, and have their own personal equipment.

For quite a few, this has lead to an opportunity for their young athlete to now have a shot at playing on a college sports team. But at most colleges, competition to make the team is fierce and at the top schools, it's just nuts. With college sports recruiters looking at the applications of hundreds of potential new team members it's important to stand out in the crowd. To do so, it is necessary to present the talents of your young athlete to the college sports recruiter.

Of course, the best way for a recruiter to see the skills and talents of your son or daughter is for the recruiter to watch them in live action. Obviously, this isn't always practical. For the recruiter, videos of your player are the next best thing to being there. Arizona Sport Shots can film your player and provide you with a professionally edited DVD based on your recruiter's specific requirements or provide you a Standard Viddeo that will contain what most recruiters for your sport are looking for, including your player's skills, live action highlights, grade and game stats, and short interview or player self-introduction, all organized in appropriate chapters with corresponding titles.

GETTING SERIOUS

College recruiters are very seriously looking, and looking hard, for young talent to represent their school teams. And at this level it's no longer about learnng the basics and havnig fun while we do so. Presumably, we have already learned those skills. Now, it's about honing those skills to razor sharpness, it's about talent, it's about discipline, it's about committment and, not surprisingly, it's about winning. To find superior talent with all these qualities for their college teams, recruiters need to have a precise video that effectively showcases your player's skills, talents, discipline, commitment and seriousness. A properly put together video says your player is very serious about his or her commitment to the game, the selected school and team, and his or her futurre. In fact, next to your player's SAT score, the video is your most important sports recruiting tool.

MAKING YOUR OWN VIDEO

Parents like to participate in their child's development and achievements each step of the way and some want to do their own video filming and have us do the editing. This is perfectly acceptable but it's helpful if you have some experience videotaping. You want to be sure your camera is not shaking or bouncing around so that a recruiter doesn't get dizzy the moment he o she begins watching your player's video. Avoid bothersome noise in the background whenever possible and don't shoot through fences or bushes. Be carefful too that people aren't walking in front of your camera. Most importantly, be sure to contact your recruiter to inquire as to exactly how and what they want in the video. This will include specific skills and angles you'll need to capture.

It's always helpful to have a continous light source to brighten shadowed areas. Put your camera on a tripod to help eliminate shake and out of focus images and try not to overuse the zoom feature. We understand videotaping doesn't seem all that complicated. We also appreciate that the consumer camera and video industry give the impression that once you buy their equipment, supplemented with a little practice, you'll soon have Stephen Spielberg knocking on your door asking for advice. But the truth is, there's a lot more to it than meets the eye. Professional and amateur videography are about as far away from one another as kite-flying and piloting a private aircraft. So if you need more help with this, don't hesitate to Contact Us for more details. Keep in mind too that whether you do the shooting or if we do, our prices (see below) are still the same.

If you prefer that we do the shooting you can count on us to know all the right tecniques and have all the right equipment to handle your specific sport(s). We'll also get up close and personal to get both wide and tight shots and, where required, low, mid-level, and elevated shots to capture the best of your player's abilities. And we work closely with you to assure you have exactly what your recruiter needs.

IT'S ALL IN THE EDITING

Well, not exactly. But a good deal of time is spent editing the video from 2-5 hours or more of shooting whittled down to 5 minutes or less to present to the recruiter. Plus, we're throwing out the poor quality and extraneous footage and adding text and chapter separations for our Basic Video and such enchancements (in our Pro Video) as music and player markers or highlighters so the recruiter knows exactly what and who he's looking at at all times.

RETAKES

Occasionally, one or two skills has to be re-shot. If something just doesn't look the way you want it to, we're happy to provde a free retake to be sure we have exactly what you, the player, and most importantly, the recruiter is looking for.

PRICES

We offer two price structures:

Standard Skills-Only Video
– This is a fairly straight forward video with a self-introduction by the player followed by text of your player's name, number, and positions. Following this are specific chapters showing action skills for each new position based on your recruiter's specific requirements. You'll receive a DVD with a running time of approximately 5 minutes plus or minus, depending on your recruiter's preferences. Price $395

Extra DVDs are $15 each.

Pro Skills & Game Highlights Video – This video is identical to the above but includes Game Highlights and other features. Your player is easily identified from all the other players on the field/cour/pool by arrows and highlilghters. This prevents the recruiter from being confused as to what player they are suppose to be looking at. In addition, appropriate instrumental music can be added to block out annoying extraneous noise on the video. In addition, grades and sports stats are included. Includes 5 extra copies of the DVD. Price: $650

Additional DVDs are $15 each.

Discounts (Standard Video / Pro Video) are available for multitple players on the field on the same day and location, as follows:

2 to 3 players - $350 each / $650 each

4 to 7 players - $325 each / $615 each

8 to 11 players - $300 each / $580 each

12 or more players - $275 each / $545 each

WE'LL HOST YOUR VIDEO ON OUR WEBSITE

In mid-October 2008, we will begin to host Player Pages on our website where recruiters can view your player's College Recruiting Video and personal information such as gradea, sports stats, physical attributes, coach references and contacts, and a brief sports and academic biography of your player including awards, recognitions, etc.

Web page with video of one sport - $350

Web page with video of two sports - $475

Web page with video of three sports or more - $600

(Prices do not include filming or editing of video.)

TRACKING A DEVELOPING ATHLETE

It is generally agreed that training, physical abilities, attitude, and genetics play a dominant role in the performance of all athletes. Usually, you can see the players at a very early age that stand out from the rest. By the time the player gets to high school he or she is usually considered one of the more outstanding players on the team.

For those parents who want to document their player's development during these formative years, Arizona Sports Shots will follow your young athlete throughout his or her high school years, filming their action on school and club teams whether this entails one sport or several. By the time your player enters their senior year, you'll have a nice collection of his or her development and performance on the field, court, track, or pool, the highlights of which can be edited and included in your College Recruitment Video.
